Pilot: World Bank's ESF mapping workshop in Ecuador

14 June 2022

Last week, the World Bank piloted the ‘Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) map’, which is based on NCEA's and SAIEA's ESY map tool. The objective of an ESF mapping is to analyse a countries' environmental and social (legal) system and necessary steps to meet one or more of the 10 Environmental and Social Standards (ESS) of the World Bank.

In Ecuador, the ESF mapping was applied to:

  • ESS 1 - Assessment and management of environmental and social risks and impacts
  • ESS 7 - Indigenous peoples
  • ESS 10 - Stakeholder engagement and information disclosure

The three-day workshop with a large number of interested parties from various backgrounds, was jointly facilitated by a World Bank team, the NCEA and an independent facilitator.
