SEA capacity development for the Health, Safety and Environment Division under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and for other key actors in the SEA system in Uganda.
At the invitation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), the NCEA is collaborating with MEMD's Health, Safety and Environment Division to strengthen local capacity in Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). As an initial activitiy under this collaboration, approximately 30 staff members from MEMD and NEMA received training on the preparatory stages of SEAs in the mining and energy sectors.
In the coming years, NCEA remains committed to supporting MEMD in further initiatives aimed at strengthening local knowledge and skills for effective SEA implementation and promoting the broader integration of SEA into planning processes.
