In April, the NCEA travelled to Ouagadougou to conduct an SEA training for the Water Agency of the Mouhoun (AEM). The region faces multiple challenges surrounding water and the environment, but also challenges in relation to security.

To meet the environmental challenges, the AEM is developing an integrated water resources management plan for three sub-basins of the region, the Samendéni Sourou. The plan will look at four development options: focusing either on economic growth, social development or the environment, or combing these three options. It will be accompanied by an SEA that will help actors make better informed decisions about the plan. To help with the development of this SEA, Blue Deal funded this training.

The NCEA will support the Mouhoun Water Agency in the next steps for developing the SEA.
