Alejandra Burchard Levine
Advisor Environmental and Social Assessment
In late September and early October, the NCEA joined two major environmental gatherings in Santa Marta, Colombia: the XII Regional Policy Dialogues and the II ANLA International Congress 2025. These events were hosted in collaboration with Colombia’s Pro Tempore Presidency of REDLASEIA (Latin American Network of Environmental Impact Assessment Systems) and supported by the Interamerican Development Bank.
The discussions focused on pressing topics such as transparency and trust in the just energy transition. Alejandra Burchard Levine from the NCEA contributed to an international panel exploring how Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) can support long-term planning and inclusive development—sharing global examples from the Netherlands, Myanmar, and South Africa. The events brought together environmental authorities from across Latin America, Colombian regional representatives, students, and civil society organizations, creating a vibrant space for exchange and learning.
The visit also included meetings in Bogotá with ANLA, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the Netherlands Embassy. These conversations helped shape the 2026 cooperation agenda, with themes like marine spatial planning and just energy transition taking center stage.
