LANDac: presentation of NCEA on inclusivity in social impact assessment

The LANDac Conference, held from 28th to 30th June, delved into the important topics regarding all different aspects of land governance. It included a session on inclusivity in Social Impact Assessment. The NCEA in the person of Emmy Dortant took part in this session as a presenter and member of the panel.
The session encouraged interactive participation, allowing attendees to engage in practical reflections on dilemmas encountered in SIA development.
Emmy Dortant pointed out the rising prominence of the social element within Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). The panel addressed and discussed various challenges in social impact assessment, such as gender disparities and issues surrounding pastoralism/nomadic groups. Alongside the NCEA, presenters included Royal HaskoningDHV, Invest International, and Both Ends, fostering a comprehensive and diverse discussion on inclusivity in social impact assessments.
