Annual Report 2024

In 2024, the NCEA:

• received a significant number of requests for support related to mining, water, and renewable energy (green hydrogen, offshore wind, nuclear, and hydropower), especially related to Strategic Environmental Assessment;
• published the special magazine ‘Strategic Environmental Assessment; Past, Practice, Prospects‘ to mark its 30th Anniversary;
• noticed an increased interest and involvement from thematic ministries, civil society organizations, knowledge institutes and media platforms in environmental and social assessment;
• published its first report under the new Sustainability Analysis programme, titled ‘Improving governmental capacity to address sustainability dilemmas in global value chains‘;
• together with the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF), launched the report ‘Strategic Environmental Assessment for the Mining Sector‘;
• was pleased to work together with many partners towards inclusive and informed decision-making.
