7222-01. OMVS - Senegal, Mauritania, Guinee, Mali

The river Senegal crosses 4 countries and is an important source for irrigation water, electricity and biodiversity, and a transportation infrastructure. The OMVS - established in 1972 - is the managing authority of the river. It has signed a collaboration Protocol with the NCEA in 2020. Due due the pandemic, further elaboration of a work program is still ongoing. The OMVS is involved with ESIAs for several dams. It works with the environmental assessment authorities in Senegal, Mauritania, Mali and Guinée Conakry, which are affected by these dams.
