June 2020 the NCEA, the West African Association for Environmental Assessment (AOAEE) and the Francophone International Secretariat for Environmental Assessment (SIFEE) organized a webinar on the application of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) as development tool in West Africa. The NCEA has the ambition to help organize more of these activities in the future.
Significant details
The objective of this activity was to allow an exchange of experiences of practitioners associated with the realisation of environmental assessments leading to strategic decisions, through an online panel in the form of a webinar. Discussion focused on the assumption that environmental assessments are an unutilised opportunity for West Africa's sustainable development. Three case studies from Senegal, Mali and Guinea were presented.
