The Impact of Transport Biofuels on Developing Countries: Ensuring Policy Coherence

The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested the Dutch Sustainability Unit - part of the NCEA - to address three questions relevant to the debate on how to integrate impacts in developing countries in Dutch decisions on biofuels in transport.

In our report we state that the choices the Netherlands makes on biofuels blending scenarios have global implications for example on land use, GHG emissions, foodprices and people’s livelihoods. The higher the blending percentage, the higher the effects.
