ESIA / SEA developments in Guinea

17 January 2022

After the changes at government since the coup d’état in September 2021, the NCEA visited Guinea to discuss possible cooperation with the newly named Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD). Three possible fields of joint activities have been identified:

  • the ongoing coaching for the SEA for the Bafing-Falémé landscape,
  • advice on SEA and ESIA related to the environment and mining sector reform the ministry is supporting with World Bank assistance,
  • and support to the newly to be established National Environmental Assessment Agency.

The visit was also an opportunity to meet with former NCEA expert Dr Karim Samoura in his new role of Head of the Cabinet of MEDD. Congratulations and all the best!
