Mozambique is keen to take Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to the next level. It wants to apply SEA for key priority sectors such as mining and land use planning, while strengthening its organizational processes and capacities

Mozambique has asked the support of the NCEA in this, referring to the highly valued collaboration in the past linked to developments in the Zambezi Valley and to the SEA for coastal zone management.
Between 7 and 11 July, Director Dennis van Peppen visited Mozambique on invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries (MAAP), to meet high-level authorities, CSOs and other stakeholders and discuss challenges and opportunities. Mozambique and the NCEA hope to sign an MoU for long-term cooperation soon.
