In September the NCEA visited Jakarta, Indonesia to explore opportunities for cooperation and support on various projects currently planned or in development in the country.
Indonesia is working on issues across a wide range of sectors. The NCEA spoke with representatives from multiple ministries, organisations and partners to find out what role we can play in the current developments in the water sector, (green) infrastructure and urban planning, food security, waste management and the energy sector.
In the coming months, we will further explore these opportunities. Overall, we shall focus on building capacity by broadening knowledge on SEA for representatives from different sectors. Being one of the priorities of the president, we shall start providing support to the protection of the North Coast of Java, more publicly referred to as the Giant Sea Wall project. This will vary from providing strategic guidance on the planning process to providing expert knowledge on interventions at the project level.
