Law of Protection and Improvement of the Environment (no.68-86, 1986).

First national detailed SEA regulation

First national detailed regulation (procedural requirements) for SEA, through which SEA was operationalized.

The SEA regulation was established in 2007 by the Government Agreement 431-2007 (Regulation on Environmental Evaluation, Control and Monitoring).

The proponents of projects and programs may elaborate a SEA. The final report is reviewed by the DIGARN. The MARN issues the approval or indicates the limitations and restrictions. The MARN also proposes measures and instruments that have to be adhered to to obtain the environmental license.
