In this newsletter, we look back on a fruitful month filled with workshops centered around water management and SEA. Also, we have two new vacancies for a Spanish and a French speaking Technical Secretary.

Vacancies: French and Spanish speaking Technical Secretary

Do you have experience in environmental or social impact assessment, and are you fluent in Spanish or French, and English? Do you want to have an impact on decisions that shape the world? We are looking for two Technical Secretaries to join our team. Application deadline is March 15.

Kenya: Capacity building workshops on SEA for county governments

At the end of January, the National Treasury of Kenya, in collaboration with the Council of Governors, State Department for Economic Planning and the National Environment Management Authority, organised a capacity-building workshop on SEA for the members of the SEA taskforce.

  ANLA meeting Bogota

Colombia: Official start of cooperation with the National Environmental Licensing Authority

In February the NCEA visited Colombia to meet with partners in Bogotá and Cartagena. There we discussed areas of cooperation on ESIA and SEA, in the framework of the ‘Water as Leverage’ programme and in other contexts.

  Egypt workshop National Water Strategy

Egypt: Assessing the new National Water Strategy against SEA principles

The National Water Strategy of Egypt is up for renewal and the NCEA has been requested to review the current strategy against SEA principles. In Cairo, a workshop was organised on the additional value of SEA in national planning.

Yemen: The added value of SEA to Integrated Water Resource Management in Wadi Hajer

At the request of FAO, the NCEA organised the first of a series of workshops for officials of the Environmental Protection Agency and of the National Water Resources Authority of the Ministry of Water and Environment.
