We are very much in favor and convinced of the necessity to work with partners around the world. This is also in line with the international objectives of harmonisation in the Paris Agenda.
Key forums to contribute to EIA and SEA harmonisation are the OECD DAC SEA task force and the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA). Main agenda of the task force in 2009 is to compile good practice case studies, to prepare a number of annexes on the SEA guidance on topical issues such as biofuels and to keep the database updated on donor activities on SEA around the globe.
With IAIA we share our experiences and learn and discuss with other members in different fora such as annual conferences (2009 in Ghana, 2010 in Switzerland), IAIA sections and special committes.
Current partnerships in 2009 are with:
Furthermore we have established partnerships with ITC and UNESCO-IHE. Cooperating with these institutes to build EIA and SEA capacity with students from around the globe, both within and outside the Netherlands, may have a significant multiplier effect with our work in the countries.
